  • 01/14/04--22:47: How were all the parts transported? (chan 2670161)
  • As Concorde was made by several different manufacturers but there were two assembly lines, in France and Britain, how did all the parts get moved around? The front and rear sections were made at Brooklands and were presumably taken by road to Filton, but the middle section, complete with inner wings, was made in France by Sud Aviation. How did they get this to Filton? A Super Duper Guppy???

  • Just a quick e-mail to wish you a Happy and Extremely Prosperous New Year.

A brief update, the campaign is gathering some momentum. A number of MP'S and MEP'S have put their name to the cause and more will follow after our direct mail campaign, which will commence shortly. The second meeting of the year takes place shortly(see website). All Concorde supporters are welcome to attend, drop an e-mail to Ross if you would like further details. I presume you have signed the petition, if not please do so asap, we must achieve our target by the end of the month.

Please spread the word to family, friends and colleagues, to achieve our objective of returning at least one Concorde to flight, requires the support of as many people as possible. Concorde is our British Heritage and must be treated as such, this sublime engineering masterpiece must receive the same dedication and support as any British Heritage site, or work of art. • 01/18/04--02:20: Restoration (chan 2670161)
  • Has anyone been watching the BBC series "Restoration"? In case you haven't its about old listed buildings that have fallen in to disrepair. Each week they show a couple of old stately homes, a Castle or even a swimming pool and the public vote by premium rate phone call, which one they would like to go through to the next round and eventually a winner is chosen and it gets the money that has been raised through various means, for its restoration.

I was thinking, it'd be nice if they did one for old aircraft. I can think of a few candidates straight off; Vulcan XH558, Trident ZK, Concorde DG to name a few that we'd all know. Before anyone points out that there's only one winner, a lot of the buildings that were featured on the program have got some or all the money they need because their profile was raised by being on tv and people donated to them.

    Just a thought.

  • 01/18/04--19:01: Which Concordes made First Flights? (chan 2670161)
  • The Concorde History Timetable is so helpful but it doesn't tell which BA and AF Concordes made the first flights on May 24, 1976 to IAD. I also forgot the first Concordes to commence regular daily service to JFK on November 22,1977. Finally, which Concorde made the flight from LHR>BAH>SIN on December 9, 1977? I think it was G-BOAD, but the Timeline omits its registration, too. This information must be on this website elsewhere but it's elusive. Cheers!

  • 01/18/04--19:24: Why No Air France F-BVFE ? (chan 2670161)
  • I always wondered why Air France never registered a Concorde as F-BVFE. They flew F-BVFD and F-BVFF, but no F-BVFE? Any ideas? It would be speculation as they were registered so long ago?

  • 01/18/04--21:18: G-BOAD (chan 2670161)
  • just to give everyone an update, i drove by her twice this week. it is cold here in NYC, but she is a tough lady...she looks as elegant and sophosticated as ever.

  • 01/19/04--19:17: Unreserved apology (chan 2670161)
  • I feel it necessary to make an unequivocal apology for certain postings recently. We all have our views, what I do discourage is blatant personal attacks and worthless comments. This is a time when we need to work with, not against each other.
To address a couple of points : -
    1) We are being advised by various ex-Concorde staff, from engineers to Captains : we are not all the loud-mouthed louts that we are attributed to be.
    2) We are not just about a petition : we are formulating a professional business plan to take this forward.
    3) Our aims go far beyond return to flight, as our objectives show. We also want to preserve what we have and encourage investment. We are PRO BA, not against them : it would be foolish to bite the hand of the very people who own the aircraft.
4)Our site is not about information : it is there as a focal point for us to pull things together (in conjunction with other key people), and as such should be viewed purely as that.
    If anyone, and...

  • 01/20/04--11:14: G-BOAB Tomorrow (21st) (chan 2670161)
  • Hi,
Hoping that someone could update as to whether G-BOAB's move is still happening tomorrow? If so what time is it likely to be? I seem to remember 15.30 as being mentioned, but are there any 'insiders' with any better information. I imagine that G-BOAB will use the crossing, but does anyone know where she is at the moment?

  • I might as well lay my cards on the table.

I'm looking for a woman to share my life with, one that will make me a flask of coffee and some cheese and beetroot sarnies for my planespotting trips.

If you are plain looking, between 50-60, leave a message and I'll take you on a hot date ideally near an airport or preferably IN an airport lololololol.

    I wait with baited breath.

  • 01/31/04--22:11: Concorde in the new Britney Spears video (chan 2670161)
  • Has anyone else seen the latest Britney video? If you look closely you'll see a few frames of Concorde. She's in front of the sun so it looks like a sunburst as she passes between two buildings. It's only a few frames, but unmistakable!!

Just goes to show what an icon she is and I don't mean Britney Spears!! :rollin :rollin :rollin :rollin :lol

  • 06/12/06--09:38: Best window view of shock (chan 2670161)
  • Shockwaves in air are visible, because the density and therefore refractive index discontinuity at the shock refracts light.

Subsonic jet planes commonly generate shocks where the airflow is accelerated above the wing so as to exceed sound speed, and such shocks can be seen from windows.

Do Concorde windows offer any good views of the shocks changing their location and strength as the Mach number changes?

  • 07/26/09--16:25: Concorde Nozzles (chan 2670161)
  • Hello guys
I'm confused about Concorde Nozzle a bit.
-1.During the transonic about M1.1 the Seconcdary Nozzle position at 0 degree mean that the exhaust between Primary and Secondary nozzle have enough static preesure due to high speed air that vent around engine. This is correct or not?
-2.Then the exhaust gas enter the divergence sction [Secondar Nozzle] which accelerate the exhaust gas to supersonic which cause by expansive shock. This is corrected or not?
-3.The exhaust system of the Concorde should produce more thust while it in transonic than during take off because during trasonic the exhaust can acclerate to supersonic speed without overexapnasion problem. This is correct or not?

Thanks for replyimage and sorry for bad english.
